Set on the Adriatic Coast in late summer 2005, this novel sheds light on some aspects of past and present life on both coasts of the Adriatic Sea, the end of World War II to the present day. The story begins with the discovery of two corpses on a secluded beach at night by a group of fishermen. Commissioner Strong, newly appointed head of the investigative police headquarters in Rimini, thanks to a procedure too personal, non-Orthodox will lead the investigation that led him to explore the environment typical of the Romagna Riviera, made up of hotels, nightclubs and good food coming into contact with a dense undergrowth of the coastal middle class, I noticed among cocaine addicts, hoteliers and politicians cheating little ladies. But the inspector will also revisit the story of his family, originally from the city of Zadar in Dalmatia, forced to flee following the bombing of the Anglo-Americans and the arrival of Tito's partisans.
Through the pages of this novel, concise and fluent style, the author argues, in the folds of yellow, some aspects of recent history, perhaps too hastily removed.
Enrico Carlini, a native of Riccione, a degree in History and Science. He works as a computer scientist at the University of Bologna. "The Smuggler" is his first work.
